Creativity Tweets of the Week — 11/4/11

The Artist’s Road is back with more links on creativity and writing. Mr. Bacon is also back, petulant at having been left off of the blog for several weeks. He’s lucky I haven’t cooked him.

CREATIVITY

  • Perhaps inspired by the two posts featuring "7" below, Mr. Bacon attempts to bend 7 LEGO men to his ill-intentioned will.

Scheduling Spontaneity,” Jonathan Fields: Good advice, but not an original line. Does anyone else remember this line by Daphne Zuniga in The Sure Thing? “Spontaneity has its time and place.”

  • music and the mind,” Stan Stewart, Muz4Now: Did you know music is medicine to the mind?

WRITING

Keep creating!

  1. I nearly spit coffee all over my laptop screen when I saw that first photo and I blurted out, “OH MY GOD!” My son is the Lego Minifig King. That’s quite a collection you have there, Mr. Bacon! Rolling on floor over here.šŸ™‚

  2. Great list, Patrick. I especially enjoyed Joey Strawn’s post. Thanks for passing these along!

    • The first six were pounded into me when I was a journalist. The last one reminds me of how old I am, because I remember the era of typewriters when we were told to put two spaces after a period. Sigh.

      • The two spaces issue is a bone of constant contention in my writers workshop. I am a single spacer, so the double spaces is difficult for me to read (I always take them out prior to critiquing…less distracting). But you have lots of good company if you double space.šŸ™‚

  3. Thanks Patrick as always for the inspiration. I’ve started to flesh out a novel idea I’ve had for years… and while I am good (haha maybe this is debatable) about getting work down with my visual arts I need to learn to apply some of those tricks to my writing. “How to write then you’re not in the mood” will be something I bookmark for a reminder when I’m feeling uninterested in what I’m writing!

    • Hi Carrie! I am both glad to have been some assistance in your writing pursuits, and simultaneously shamed as I remember I have still to read most of your book on art. In my defense, I have had little time to read anything but my MFA assignments this fall, but my semester ends in 8 days and I look forward to picking it up then.šŸ™‚

  4. Thanks for including me in your list, Patrick!! I hope to read YOUR full story someday soon, as well.šŸ™‚

  5. Thanks Patrick, for including me in your list!! I hope to read YOUR full story someday soon, as well.šŸ™‚

  6. I think Mr. Bacon has minions! (Let’s hope they are all as dumb as the average minion…)

[…] Bacon has visited here on and off with some frequency, most recently last week. But Mr. Bacon has a traveling jones. Yes, I said I was fine with him going on a walkabout. But, to […]
